| From Jaipur and Pushkar |
Well after a busy experience in Jaipur, Pushkar's small town appeal was just the recipe for a little relaxation. We arrived by bus in the early afternoon and with the help of Steve's built in GPS, arrived at the hotel we were looking for with minumum amount of turn rounds (Stacey's favorite).
Pushkar is a very holy town in the middle of the desert centered round a very important lake. According to Hindu belief, the lake was one of three lotus petals dropped to Earth by Lord Brahma and has one of the only recognized Brahmin temples in all of India.
The lake was a little low tide as you will see from the pictures. The monsoons are due here in a few months but you can really see how water-starved some of these towns really are.
We wandered our way through Pushkar for a day and a half and experienced everything that we needed to. There was lots of shopping and fun streets to twist and turn through. The city was at its best when we suddenly happened upon a wedding processional.
An Indian wedding is something to be admired, with the sheer amount of pomp and circumstance that goes into it. One of the men in the wedding party noticed Steve dancing from the side of the road and beckoned to him to come and dance along with them, throwing a beautiful Marigold wreath over his neck.

It was one of those moments that is so quintessentially Indian - the people in their own moment of joy and happiness and celebration, never cease to find a way to invite everyone they meet to share the same happiness. I only wish I had been that magnanimous with the Costa Rican locals at my own wedding!! Indian people can definitely teach us all a thing or two about love.
